“Gye Nyame” is a famous Adinkra symbol from the Akan people of Ghana that means “Except for God” or “Except God”. It expresses the belief in God’s supremacy and the recognition of God as the supreme power over all beings. The symbol is ubiquitous in Ghana and can be found in artwork, clothing, bank notes and other cultural items. It is often used to symbolise faith, strength, and protection.
